How we classify every service
- Free
- No purchase, membership or status needed.
- Free w/ conditions
- Requires a fuel purchase, loyalty credit, membership, or eligibility (e.g. veteran ID). Conditions are listed.
- Paid
- Available for a fee.
- Unknown
- We haven't confirmed it. We never guess "free".
- Not available
- Confirmed not offered.
How we know
Each value also shows its basis: verified (confirmed for that location with a cited source), chain policy (a company-wide rule that may not apply at franchise locations), dataset (OpenStreetMap or U.S. DOT), secondary (a published compilation), inferred (e.g. public rest areas don't charge for parking), or unconfirmed (from our original spreadsheet, source unknown).
Routing & Hours of Service
When truck routing is enabled, routes are calculated with a heavy-goods-vehicle profile that respects the height, weight and length you enter where road data exists. Otherwise the planner clearly warns that it is using car routing. Overnight suggestions help you plan around your driving hours; they do not certify compliance with FMCSA Hours-of-Service rules.
Sponsored listings
Businesses may sponsor a listing. Sponsored listings are always labelled, never change a service's classification, and never move ahead of better options in overnight suggestions.
